JCRV Leadership has made a lot of changes on how we format election information and how we make this information available. From the feedback of voters and volunteers, mostly Republicans, we have decided to create a nonpartisan (no endorsements) information platform where ALL voters can retrieve up-to-date election information - who, what, when, and where. The result is the introduction of the TimeToVoteTX Voter Guide.
We have removed all Republican logos and references; and we promote the Voter Guide using its own unique branding style so that voters feel more receptive with the platform in which information is being provided.

TOPIC: Tax Office & Process for Protesting Property Value
TIME: 6:30pm - 8:00pm
LOCATION: Johnson County Republican Party Headquarters
ADDRESS: 210 S. Main St., Cleburne, TX 76033
Scott Porter, Tax Assessor-Collector
Scott will explain his role and provide an overview of the Tax Assessor-Collector office.
What determines how much taxes I owe?:
Each year, the tax rates adopted by each of the local taxing entities (city, school, county, etc.) are multiplied by the taxable value of the property (less any exemptions) as determined by the Central Appraisal District. This process determines the amount of local property taxes due for each property the Johnson County Tax Office collects for and generates the tax statements that are sent.

Amy Lingo, Central Appraisal District Board
Amy and Bruce Medley, Attorney, will explain the process for protesting your property value.
What if I don’t agree with my property value?:
The Central Appraisal District sends out notices of appraised value usually around April and May to inform property owners if their property value for the upcoming tax year has increased over the previous year. If you disagree with this value, under new legislation starting January 1, 2018, you have until May 15 or no later than 30 days from the date the notice was mailed (whichever is later) to file a protest with the Appraisal Review Board.

We gather, research and share nonpartisan information about elections, candidates, and bonds that are not widely publicized. We strive to deliver a one-stop-site VOTER GUIDE for all voters in the county.
Our #1 goal is to increase voter turnout, so we host and participate in community events to educate and register voters. Many of our volunteers are Deputy Registrars.
We offer training and assistance to poll workers (including student poll workers), Precinct Chairs, Block Captains, candidates running for office, and more.
We support all High School students, college internships, and young professionals in gaining leadership skills and academia experience.
