05

EVENT: Elephant in the Room
Community Roundtable Discussion Open to the Public every 1st Tuesday.
March topic: JOHNSON COUNTY EDUCATION SYSTEM - EMPOWERING PARENTS WITH THEIR RIGHTS
Guest Speaker: Georgia Wright Head, Johnson County Director, Families Engaged

INTRODUCTION:
The government education system in Texas is failing students and families. Students are not receiving the quality education
required by our state constitution. Empowering parents to help them understand their rights, and returning true local control of education to parents are important to promoting family values. Teaching parents how to use their God given rights to guide and direct their child’s heart, mind and soul are critically important today when state and federal legislation, school
districts, and cultural norms are aimed at destroying parent’s rights and family values. Our churches must return to their established place in our communities by engaging and subsidizing broken families in order to support educational assistance that will lead to long-lasting student success. Join us in a conversation about educating parents, citizens
and lawmakers to the damage of the Texas Education Code through legislation that dilutes family values, quality of education and our constitutional republic.

DISCUSSION:
Empowering parents with their rights and teaching them how to use these rights to guide and direct their child’s education; returning control of education to the parents. Enlightening Texans to the failure of government education agencies to provide a quality student experience. Texas legislative priorities. The ideas behind the Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
program that is being introduced into our schools and the ramifications on our children.

EVENT: Elephant in the Room, a collaborative community roundtable. This month's topic is on 2023 Election Synopsis: Low Voter Turnout & Population Growth

INTRODUCTION:
The Johnson County Republican Party, and its volunteers, have analyzed election data to share with you. Not just the results of the election, but factual data that shows that there is still much to do in Johnson County to get the votes out. Republicans may have won the election, but the current voter turnout is NOT enough to “Keep Texas Red”.
Join us to learn how we did in the election with an analytical breakdown outlining voter turnout and gaps by precinct; and hear what we are doing about it. We want to hear from you to discuss ways we can all gain conservative voter strength.

Facts you need to know:
Johnson County ranks 26 in population out of the 254 counties in Texas. Harris County (*Houston) is the largest county in Texas, with Dallas County (*Dallas), Tarrant County (*Fort Worth), Bexar County (*San Antonio) and Travis County (*Austin) leading as the top five most populous counties in Texas.

All these other counties are run by Democrats, and this means 2 out of the top 5 populated counties are right at our back door.

In 2022, Congressional and state legislative district boundaries changed in Texas due to all the move-ins. Prior to this re-districting, Johnson County was in a single Congressional District. Now we are split into two Congressional Districts - District 25 Rep. Roger Williams (R) and District 6 Rep. Jake Ellzey (R). Johnson County is the largest county in these Congressional Districts, with Tarrant County having a sliver.

Elections that have a meaningful effect on the balance of power in governments or are particularly competitive and compelling are called Battleground Elections. Johnson County is a Battleground County. Austin Democrats want to flip Johnson County BLUE. We invite you to join us in this battle to retain our Texas way of life!

GENERAL: Post by Cornelia Wood
The U.S. Senate will shortly be voting on the Omnibus spending bill—which will lock in a very impressive (alright. . . insane) amount of spending, worked out behind closed doors, in order to deaden, as much as possible, the impact of the new Congress, coming in January 3rd.

This bill has some GOP support—including that of Sen. Mitch McConnell. I contacted Sen. Cornyn’s Dallas office , at 972-239-1310, and was able to leave a message requesting that he please vote AGAINST this bill—given that that would definitely be MY preference in the matter.

I don’t know if Sen. Cornyn is already one of Republican Senators on record as supporting the bill. He might be. I’m just trying to be proactive within the limitations of being able to follow the crush of news and events—and still have a life!

So please do as you feel led—and as you have time!

(Limited government and balanced budgets would be such nice features to have at the federal level. . . So much less need to bother about arcane earmarks and connivances. . . Oh well.)

ARTICLE: Let’s Go Brandon: Cultural Marxist Biden Regime Targets Texas School District for Removing Sexually Explicit LGBTQ Books (Gateway Pundit)

Granbury is the school district involved. The U.S. Dept of Education is "investigating" the school district, based on a "complaint", by the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union, that REMOVING certain books-- with explicit homosexual sexual content--from the grade libraries constitutes "discrimination" based on gender and sexual orientation. (As a side note, a school board in Virginia had previously shut down a mother, trying to read aloud from one of these books, on the grounds that the material was pornographic-- and too obscene to read in public at a school board meeting!)

Presumably, the grade school libraries in Texas are NOT providing students with non-LGBTQ+ (heterosexual) pornography. Moreover, the same interests which would be against LGBTQ+ porn via the school library would ALSO be against heterosexual porn via the library--so the "discrimination" argument really is as weak as it gets. Not that logic or common sense seems to matter to those "complaining" or "investigating".

Plus--if these books are being REMOVED from the libraries, somebody--presumably the school librarian-- put them there in the first place. . .

Arguably, the whole thing is a bullying and intimidation operation designed to get age-inappropriate reading books in front of children--pushed by adults with an unhealthy interest in pursuing that mission.

A little about US Congressman Roger Williams:

Roger Williams proudly represents the 25th Congressional District of Texas in the United States Congress.

Congressman Williams has a history of public service prior. In 2005, Governor Rick Perry appointed Congressman Williams to serve as Texas Secretary of State where he worked tirelessly to promote economic development, investment, job creation and border security in Texas.

The Congressman brings a unique approach to Congress and continues to be the voice for Main Street America. He is a small business owner with over 50 years of experience running and operating a car dealership, a business he and his family still own and operate today.

Roger was an All-Southwest Conference baseball player at TCU and was named to TCU’s All-Decade Team for the 1960s. After graduating from college, he was drafted by the Atlanta Braves where he played in their farm system. In 2015, Roger was awarded the George H.W. Bush Distinguished Alumnus Award from the National College Baseball Hall of Fame.

In the 117th Congress, Congressman Williams serves on the Financial Services Committee and is the Vice-Ranking member on the Small Business Committee. As one of the few business owners in Congress, Roger knows first-hand the effects of increased taxes, government regulation and bureaucracy that hurt our small businesses and economic growth. He stays focused on issues ranging from government deregulation, fiscal conservatism, helping struggling business recover from the government mandated COVID-19 lockdowns, and more.

Be inspired to pray, vote, and engage as we get our marching orders together as the Body of Christ in America to make a difference in the moment in history.

Please consider joining us Thursday night for an event at our ranch in Grandview, with a non-profit group Christians Engaged, whose focus is voter enthusiasm and VOTER TURNOUT! The goal is to overcome voter apathy—where people assume the vote in THEIR COUNTY is always going to go a certain way—and so it doesn’t matter whether they bother to vote. But it does. There are always state-wide races, and races involving multiple counties, where big cities can drown everybody else out if people in rural counties only vote in small numbers. We believe that positive, upbeat reasons to gather with those with whom one shares values and everyday life can maybe accomplish something, more or better, than disembodied email, text, or social media.

GENERAL: Homeschool is on the rise still. Texas Education Agency has noted a 40% removal of students from public school to homeschool. "In certain parts of the state, parents found certain curriculums, teachings, and books very controversial and inappropriate for their students to learn." Notice an increase of grandparents getting paid to homeschool their grandchildren so parents could work. Good read because Joshua ISD just pulled some inappropriate books. It's definitely worth going to the school board meetings.

23

ELECTIONS: Early voting starts tomorrow for the Mid-Term elections. Please get out the conservative vote! Encourage your friends and family to vote. 4% in NOT enough. There are also elections for City of Keene, Rio Vista and Grandbury ISD. Local elections are more important because they affect your life and your children's lives the most! Stand with the conservative family values! Sample ballots here.

COUNTY: BRIDEWELL, 249TH DISTRICT COURT JUDGE RETIRES BEFORE NOVEMBER ELECTION, WHO TAKES HIS PLACE ON THE BALLOT?

With the recently announced retirement of 249th District Court Judge, Wayne Bridewell, voters in both Johnson and Somerville Counties find themselves in a unique situation. Bridewell, who has served as District Judge for more than 31 years, ran unopposed for reelection in the March 2022 Republican primary. Additionally, he faces no Democratic opponent in the November general election. Health concerns, however, subsequently convinced Judge Bridewell to retire, instead of standing for election to another term. Even though his current term expires December 31, 2022, Judge Bridewell indicates that he may step down sometime this coming fall.

The question then becomes how best to proceed with appointing a replacement for Judge Bridewell on the Republican ballot for the November general election, that includes the input of the electorate, while at the same time, respecting the apparatus that is currently in place to handle such a task.

The bulk of the responsibility of, and the authority for appointing a replacement candidate will land on the shoulders of the Johnson County Republican Executive Committee, as well as the Somerville County Republican Executive Committee (since the 249th District Court serves both counties). The county executive committees are usually comprised of the Republican chairman, and the precinct chairmen for each respective county.

The executive committees have been working hard to make sure the electoral processes are fair and transparent. Candidates have been interviewed and background checks conducted.

On Tuesday, August 2, 2022, the public is invited to a special event at the Cleburne Conference Center at 7:00pm, where the candidates will speak to the Executive Committees (1501 W Henderson St, Cleburne, TX 76033) as they prepare for the process of selecting a nominee to the November ballot. The public will also have an opportunity to give feedback to their local representative (Precinct Chairman) before the selection is made.

You have an opportunity to make your voice heard. We all know the consequences of remaining silent, or inactive. Let’s not allow apathy to determine who this important public servant will be.

More info on this coming soon. Click here for election results:

Regarding Proposition #2: "Authorizes a county to issue bonds to fund infrastructure and transportation projects in undeveloped and blighted areas."

This Proposition passed, but Johnson County should be okay because there would have to be a bond election to approve any of these projects. The tricky thing is getting people to vote on these bond elections! We have seen bonds pass in the past due to very low voter turnout.

JCRV will be your eyes and ears for any bond elections. We will keep you informed as we learn about these in the future!

Precinct Chair Training 2021
Robin Wilson, County Chair, hosts a Precinct Chair training seminar

Saturday, September 13, 2021, Robin Wilson hosted a Precinct Chair Meeting and Training Seminar. Precinct Chairs in Johnson County gathered for discussions on a multitude of topics. County Chair, Robin Wilson says, "Where the real work is done is politics at the precinct level." The result of these important discussions brought actions for more collaboration with other similar groups in the county; filling Precinct Chair positions where there is not one; vetting potential candidates; recruiting the right talent(s) that support our collective efforts; understanding issues of voters within the precincts to share at the County Convention; understanding the Democratic platform in order to organize ourselves for the upcoming mid-term elections …just to name a few.

A FEW NOTABLE "QUOTES" OF THE DAY:
“You’ve got to be part of the solution, or you’re part of the problem.” – Jerry Allen

“Victory goes to the majority of those who participate.” – Paul Hodson

With important elections coming up in 2022, we are eager to receive volunteer support in helping JCRV achieve this goal! We know that Democrats are offering their constituents “activist training”, but JCRV has a different approach. We are here for the conservative voters, and it is our goal to provide consistent, relevant information to them, so that they can make their own decisions when casting their vote.
